Our Story

A backyard hobby that turned into a beloved local tradition.

How GELSO's Geese Began

GELSO's Geese started the way the best things usually do โ€” on a front porch, with a goose that made everyone that saw it smile.

I'm Amanda โ€” "Gelso" aka "Kelso" to the folks who know me. What began as a quest to find a concrete porch goose, lead to an impulse decision to purchase a goose mold, turned into something I felt could be instrumental in supporting my family, and has now opened the door to providing skills, services, and enjoyment while giving back to the greater community. Turns out a hand-painted concrete goose, dressed for the season, is exactly the kind of joy a porch has been missing.

So here in Cypress, Texas, we bring back that tradition one goose at a time. Every goose is hand-poured in small batches, cured until it's rock-solid, and hand-painted to be exactly what you want โ€” the Classic White Goose, a Canadian, your team's jersey with the number of your choice, or a one-of-a-kind design we dream up together.

These aren't mass-produced lawn ornaments. They're made slow, made local, and made to stand on your porch for years โ€” through Texas summers, holidays, and every "where did you get that?!" from the neighbors. Next time they ask, send them my way.

Improving our community by bringing back the best porch tradition, one concrete goose at a time. ๐Ÿชฟ

About Our Geese

GELSO's Geese is more than a workshop โ€” it's a mission. We're working toward employing individuals with disabilities, giving them real skills, real pride, and a real paycheck.

Right now, we're just getting started. Every goose is hand-poured, painted, and finished in a small garage and on our front porch here in Cypress, Texas. Our team is small, too: one wonderful neurodivergent individual works alongside us, learning each step of bringing a goose to life โ€” from the first pour to the final brushstroke.

Every goose you welcome home helps us grow that mission โ€” toward a bigger workshop, more hands, and meaningful jobs for the people who deserve them most. Thank you for being part of the flock. ๐Ÿชฟ

How We Make Our Geese

๐Ÿชฃ

The Pour

We mix high-grade concrete by hand and pour it into custom molds. Each pour is carefully monitored to ensure consistent thickness and detail.

โณ

The Cure

Concrete needs time to strengthen. We cure each piece for 7โ€“14 days under controlled conditions, making sure your goose is rock-solid.

๐ŸŽจ

The Paint

Once cured, each goose is painted by hand with weather-resistant paint. We can match your vision or create a natural stone finish.

๐Ÿ“ธ

The Photo

We photograph your goose at every stage so you can watch it come to life. You'll get updates right in your order tracking page.

Damage Disclaimer

Every GELSO's Goose is hand-poured and hand-painted, so small variations in color, texture, and finish are normal โ€” part of the charm, not flaws. We seal each one for the outdoors, but concrete can still chip or fade over time, and the neck is the delicate spot: set your goose on a level surface, lift it with care, and keep it clear of bumps. If it arrives damaged from our delivery, send a photo within 24 hours and we'll repair or replace it free. After that, a little care keeps it guarding your porch for years. ๐Ÿ’š
